Janette Groll Obituary
Janette Lynn Groll, 70, of Levelland passed from this life on September 15, 2022. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 19, 2022, in the Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.
She was born July 30, 1952 in Victoria to Elmo and Levada Groll.
Janette graduated from Southwest Texas State with a Bachelor Degree in Music. She began her teaching career in Palacious, Texas for two years and spent one year at Converse Judson in San Antonio. Janette spent the last 37 years of her career in Levelland at LHS as the choir director.
She dedicated her life to instilling a love for music to her many students that she considered her children. Under her direction, the LHS choir won many UIL Sweepstakes over the years, and put on several dinner theaters and musicals such as “Oklahoma”, “The Music Man”, “Little Abner” and “The Wizard of Oz” to name just a few.
Janette also guided numerous students to All-Region Choir, All State Choir and State Solo and Ensemble. Through her detailed planning, many choir students were able to travel to different states to perform and have fun.
When she wasn’t busy teaching, Janette loved spending time with her family, reading books, singing, playing the piano, and giving out sound advice about life.
She was also a very giving soul, she loved to give to others rather it be to the Development Center at Christmas, her students, strangers on the street, or one-dollar bills to children at the store. She loved helping others, and if she didn’t have it, she would always find a way.
Overall, Janette Groll was an EXTRA-ordinary woman and she will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
Janette was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Levada Groll.
She is survived by Derek and Stacy Schulle; grandchildren, Lyndi and Jake Nicholson and Landon Schulle; great grandchildren, Samson, Kash and Pyper Nicholson; and long-time friends, Harold and Cecelia Hurst.

Janette was a very tough, loving, sweet lady. As a teacher she expected you to bring your very best, and she deserved it because she brought her best every single day. In the decades since, she was always so happy to see me and confirmed what I knew to be true, that she always wanted the best for her students and friends. I will always fondly remember her and am proud she was a part of my life.

As I got to know Miss Groll I found out that she wanted her students to try their best and most times she got it ! I know I went to so many of her Christmas and spring concerts as well as her musicals and her students came shining through with their singing abilities , their performances were just beautiful ! Just how she wanted it ! Rest in perfect peace Miss Groll

Miss Groll was a force of nature. She touched so many lives, mine included. I am so thankful for her investment in me & helping me as I chose to pursue my own music career. I will miss her greatly.
