Janette Harrison Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 17, 2026.
Janette Sue Harrison, 83, of Romney, WV, passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2026, under the care of hospice. She was born on April 28, 1942, in Dixie, WV, the daughter of the late Hubert Paul Price and Lona Bell Pritt-Price.

Sue was known to many as a true force of nature-someone who left a memorable mark on every person she met. Whether it was her passionate spirit, her signature wild hair, her love of bold jewelry, or her dressed-to-impress style, Sue carried herself with a confidence and charm that made her unforgettable. Her loving personality and joyful energy were gifts to all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

As the beloved matriarch of her large family, Sue brought warmth, laughter, and light into every room she entered. Affectionately known as Mawmaw Sue, not only to her own family but to many others, she lived life to its fullest-always doing the things she loved and sharing that love generously with those around her.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse Smoot; her grandson, Jeffery Slone; her son, Gary Garten; her son-in-law, Stephen Billmeyer; her sisters, Eloise Nichols Terry and Virginia "Pat" Sizemore; and her brothers, Clifford Ray Price and Paul Edward Price.

She is survived by her son, Chuck Smoot (Kathy); her daughters, Vanessa Racey (Jeremy) and Jessica Billmeyer; as well as her grandchildren: Yana Smith (Billy), Jesse Smoot (Autumn), Jay Ficik (Shawna), Samantha Billmeyer, Rachelle Jones, Kilton Kitchen, Keegan Kitchen (Whitney), Danielle Hano (Joey), Kristin Gordon, Cecily Davy (Dean), and Joshua Smoot (Kayla). She also leaves behind 27 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by a special niece, Betty Jo Sizemore, and nephew, Barry Sizemore (Andy), along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she cherished deeply.

Sue's legacy of love, strength, and unforgettable spirit will continue to shine through the family she adored.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
