Janey Lou Vaughn, Seminole resident, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at her home at the age of 79. Janey was born on July 27, 1946 in Seminole to Henry Leon and Effie Pearl (Nelson) Lemmings. She married Gerald Vaughn on May 10, 1974 in Shawnee. Gerald passed away on December 23, 2021.
Janey loved traveling with her husband. She took great joy in going to every grandkid event she could. Janey also enjoyed reading. She always hosted Lemmings family events until she wasn’t able to anymore. Janey sent out birthday cards to all of her in-laws, nieces and nephews. She always celebrated birthday parties. Janey had 22 nieces and nephews and rarely ever missed a birthday or anniversary, always sending cards and or making a phone call.
Janey is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Shauna Vaughn of Seminole; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Anita Lemmings of Seminole; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Roxie Posey of Shawnee, Lisa and Fred Schroeder of Corpus Christi, TX and Patsy and Michael Patten of Southhaven, MS; three grandchildren and spouses, Brooklyn and Austin Southers, Dylan and Caitlin Vaughn and Malia Sherrin; great grandchild, Hendrix Southers and many other family and friends.
Janey was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Pearl Lemmings; husband, Gerald Vaughn and brother, David Lemmings.
Those serving as casket bearers will be Austin Southers, Danny Wilcox, Mike Conn, Reggie Neal, Terrance Halsey and Adam Taylor.
Janey’s family will greet friends and family on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Pastor Jason Chambers officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.
