"Janice would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received an important call, one she has been preparing for her whole life, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a heavenly signing bonus, a reunion with her family and friends she has not seen in a long time. A glorious mansion of her very own, and all of her pain and disease is washed away. Her new mission takes her to a place of unimaginable beauty and joy, where she will be listening to her gospel music, rehearsing her Martin Luther King Jr.'s 'I Have A Dream' speech, reading her bible, praying for her family and most importantly, walking with her forever love, Jesus."
Janice was born on July 30, 1953, to the late JD Bonham and Vivian (Feagin) Chester in Andalusia, Alabama. She transitioned in peace and passed on October 25, 2024, at Orchard Valley Rehabilitation Center in Hendersonville, NC.
After attending Malabar High School, Janice married Jerry Kirk Collier Sr. She went on to raise three beautiful sons . She spent many years working at General Motors before moving to the south where she was a devoted member of her church. She was a proud grandmother of three grandchildren who were the light of her life.
Janice enjoyed spending time sipping a cup of coffee with her beloved dog Meme by her side. She became like a mother to many of the kids who knew her. Ms. Janice, as she was affectionately known, often showed her love by crocheting blankets and clothes for too many babies to count. She loved to play bingo, was an avid collector, and a passionate Pittsburg Steelers fan. She was a lifetime member of Providence Baptist Church in Mansfield, and Bethel A Baptist Church in Brevard, North Carolina.
Janice was preceded in death by her father, JD Bonham, mother Vivian (Feagin) Chester, and stepfather Willie Chester; siblings, Louis Bonham, Dan'Niece Johnson, and Frank Dillion "FD" Bonham. Janice leaves behind to cherish her loving memories, sons, Antonio (Charissa) Collier of Los Angeles, Ca., Jerry (Sara) Collier Jr. of Brevard, NC., and Timirin Collier of Brevard, NC.; grandchildren, Caprio Collier, Brooklyn Collier, and Nadia Collier; brothers, Donald Feagin, James (Cheri) Bonham, Walter (Cynthia) Bonham, Willie Chester, sister, Cassaundra Chester as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends, who truly loved her. Special thanks to Jennifer Snowdon for all her love and support.
