Janice Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Byrum Funeral Home Inc. on Jan. 20, 2026.
UPDATE: See new service info below.

Janice Sue Stanford Davis was born March 8, 1941 in Red Oak, Texas to Paul Kent and Irene Marie Stanford. Janice opened her eyes in the presence of the Lord and her beloved Howard on January 16, 2026.

Janice was a member of Creekside Church in Midlothian but always had many fond memories of Beltline at Main Church of Christ in Lancaster where she and Howard were members for many years, and Howard was an elder.

Janice was talented in many ways. She kept children in her home for many years, worked at Trego Industries, and spent a lot of time helping at her family grocery store and catering business. Outside of her many jobs, Janice also had many loves. She was an accomplished painter and artist with works that many people had the experience to see, but what she was most known for was her baking, desserts, and Halloween popcorn balls. More important than all of these attributes, Janice had a servant's heart. She loved God, serving in her churches, and most of all, she loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard; her parents, Kent & Irene Stanford; her brother, Von Gene Stanford; her sisters, Sylvia Ann Smith & Linda Dell Stanford; and her precious granddaughter, Amanda Irene Davis.

Janice is survived by her sons, Brent Davis, Nathan Davis and wife Nancy, Kent Davis and wife Sylvia, David Davis and wife Lynn; her grandchildren, Jennifer Spoor and husband David, Holly and Kaley Davis, Brittany Pate and husband Shay, Wesley Davis and wife Lauren, Cole Davis and wife Aspen, Dana Marie Gomez and husband Christian, Hillary Tuerck and husband Dalton, and Hunter Davis; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of Janice's life will follow at 1:00pm. Interment immediately following at Red Oak Cemetery.
