Janice Teddy Ernst, 83, of Charlevoix, passed away on February 28, 2025. She was born on July 3, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Theodore and Murial (Long) Nelson.
Janice was born and raised in Los Angeles before moving to Charlevoix in 1970. For the duration of her working days in Charlevoix, she was employed by the Rainbow Shoppe. Jan was a volunteer at the Methodist Church where she would prepare many free meals to the community for lunch. In her free time, she enjoyed watching T.V. and going for walks.
Janice is survived in death by five children, Donna (David) Swanson of Charlevoix, Christina Hamp of Orion Twp, Jody (Brian) Green of Twining, Cheryl Jones of Charlevoix, Michelle Shilling of Burton, one brother, Donald (Marlene) Nelson of Tucson, AZ, twelve grandchildren, John DiMartino, Michael DiMartino, Nicholas Cullins, Christopher Cullins, Tiffany Levasseur, Maria Custer, Rebecca Custer, Eric (Jo) Hamp, Joshua (Tiffany) Hamp, Jacob Willis, Cody Martin, Heather Gerow, four great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death is her first husband, Samuel Jones, one brother, Gary Nelson, two grandchildren, Travis Towsley, Carl Martin.
A memorial service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Mike Way officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services at 4:00. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed via the following link:
