Janice L. "Jan" (Allison) Fowler, 77, a resident of Easton for the past 50 years, passed away on May 26, 2025. She was the loving wife of James M. Fowler.
Born. In New London, CT., a daughter of the late Edwin S. and Doris C. (Craig) Allison, after spending her first 11 years living at various military bases on the East Coast (her dad was a career USN Submariner), her family settled in Middleboro and she was a graduate of Middleboro High School. Jan continued her education at Brockton Business School earning a certificate.
Jan began her working career for Northrop PPD in Norwood, MA (where she met her husband). She then worked for the Town of Middleboro, working in the Town Clerk's Office, the Planning Board and also as secretary for the Chief of Police. After, she took a position with the Town of Easton where she served as secretary for the Easton Conservation Commission for 25 years.
Jan was a member of the Easton Garden Club where she served as past President and was a founding member of the Friends of Wheaton Farm. An avid animal enthusiast, she was a longtime volunteer at the Southeastern Animal Rescue of Brockton.
Her hobbies included knitting, reading and crocheting as well as baking chocolate treats for family and various dog teats for the animal shelter.
She enjoyed years of camping as well as traveling most of the country.
In addition to her husband James, she is survived by two sons, Mark A. Fowler and his wife Heidi Terezakis of Easton and Craig B. Fowler of Easton; her siblings, William Allison of Middleboro, Robert Allison of East Bridgewater, Tracy Houlihan of Berkley. She was also the sister of Cathy Askew of Taunton (deceased)..
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in Janice's memory may be sent to Alzheimer's Association 225 Michigan Ave, Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601, or the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts 1300 West Elm Street, Ext. Brockton, MA 02301.
