Janice Kay Hettmansperger, 85, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 6:53 am, Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 1019 Belle's Place in Wabash. She was born on August 7, 1939, in Wabash, Indiana, to Benjamin C. and Naida Mary (Ferguson) Hettmansperger.
Janice was a 1957 graduate of Wabash High School, she then went on to graduate from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Fort Wayne. She worked several years at Cook County Hospital, and Presbyterian- St. Lukes, both in Chicago, as well as Parkview in Fort Wayne, then retired from Wabash County Hospital. After retirement, Janice also delivered newspapers for Wabash Plain Dealer and The Paper of Wabash County. Janice was a lifetime member of St. Matthews Church, and attended Wabash Christian Church. She enjoyed reading, walking, cooking, and especially loved her cats.
She is survived by her brother, Neil (Paulette) Hettmansperger of Walton, Indiana; sister, Sue Ann (Jim) Bakehorn of Fort Wayne, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Nevin Hettmansperger, and sister-in-law, Sandra (Jefferson) Hettmansperger.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 1:00-2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are Alzheimer's Association, Operation Preborn, or Riley Children's Hospital.
