Janice Dupree Hickson, 75, passed away October 13, 2023, surrounded by family, in Seven Points, Texas. She was born on March 25, 1948, in Dallas, Texas to parents Chester Lee Dupree and Winona Doris (Reed) Dupree.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Chester Lee Dupree and Winona Doris Dupree, brother, Sammy Lee Dupree, and husband Billy Wayne Hickson.
Janice enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her beautiful flower beds. Her greatest joy was preparing meals and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren during the holiday seasons. Even though she was a master cook in the kitchen, she believed in overcooking steak until it chewed like rubber.
The casinos lost one of their greatest customers as she loved to go to the casinos with friends and family.
Janice is survived by her son, Richard D. Roebuck Jr. and wife Severina; daughter, Jennifer Sheree Artzt; step-daughter Misty Hickson Rhoads and husband Tony, step-sons; Timmy Wayne Hickson, Danny Lynn Hickson, Alan Lee Hickson and wife Stephanie; grandchildren, Austin Roebuck, Ashley Malone, Kayla Roebuck, Cody Artzt, Garrett Artzt, David Rhoads, Crystal Hickson Lunn, Arron Hickson, Rebekah Hickson, Puente, Ethan Hickson, great grandchildren, Barrett Malone, Aiden Artzt, Everleigh Artzt, Zoey and Brayley Lunn, and Barrett Lunn , Lorenzo Puente IV, and sister, Carolyn Dollenger and Husband Mike, brothers David Dupree and wife Karen and Michael Dupree and wife Brenda, as well as her nieces and nephews, other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday October 17, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Moorhead Funeral Home 750 E. Main Street, Gun Barrel City, TX 75126. Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Bro. Ricky Thompson officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Roebuck, Ethan Hickson, Cody Artzt, Garrett Artzt, Billy Malone and Brent Dollenger.
Barrett Malone will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Interment will be at Baker Cemetery, Tolosa, TX.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
