Janice Hixson Obituary
Janice Ruth Hixson 85 years old resided in Oklahoma City died at January 21, 2026, at Integris Baptist hospital. She was born on October 28, 1940, to Roy and Velma Collins in Tulsa Ok. Janice graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1958 and was married to her husband Jack on May 28, 1958. They have 4 children, daughter Janet, twin sons Jeff and Jim and youngest son Jay. Jack's job required that he move to OKC in January of 1965. Soon after Janice started work at Southwestern Bank. She was there for about 3 years and got an offer from Braniff Airlines where she worked as an executive secretary to the manger. She was with Braniff for 16 years until they filed for bankruptcy. Shortly after that, she was hired at Delta as an executive secretary. About 4 years later she was promoted to sales rep in the marketing dept where she stayed until she retired 16 years later. She loved her job because she met so many people and got to travel to so many places such as Hawaii, Cancun, Europe and others. After retirement she became very involved with her grandchildren's activities, sports, dance, theater, etc. Her first grandchild Shoney called her Gammy and that was what she was called by all the rest. She will always be known as Gammy by all of them. Her love for the grandchildren and great grandchildren was simply unmeasurable. They were her life. They are Shoney and husband Ray Blake, Himmita and husband Christopher Ramsey. Taloa and husband Jeremy Rohrbough, Sarah and husband Lane Hlad, Aubrey Hixson, Miza Hixson, Reed Hixson, Jack Hixson, Malia Hixson, Jada Hixson and Davis Hixson. Her great grandchildren are Keiran, Niall and Caelan Blake, Aiyala, Jael, Caius and Esai Ramsey. And Luksi Rohrbough. Janice was simply a wonderful person. She made friends easily and kept them as friends forever. Never had bad words about anyone and was upbeat and cheerful. Even during her severe illness, she would say to those who called or came to visit she was "feeling better and getting stronger" but she wasn't. Her heart was so full of love for her family that it continued to beat for one full hour after the breathing tube was removed. She waited until granddaughter Shoney and her children got there before letting go. There were 22 family members at her bedside when she passed from this life to heaven. She will be greatly missed.
