Janice Dawn Kline Waggoner, 87, of Wichita, KS and formerly of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, surrounded by family at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis RMC, Wichita.

She was born May 4, 1937, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Emmett Otto and Lydia Martha (Koehn) Decker. She graduated from McPherson High School on May 25, 1955. On June 5, 1955, Janice was united in marriage to Marvin Leroy Kline in Marion, KS. She later married Thomas Samuel Waggoner, and he passed away on August 15, 2017.

In 1973, Janice graduated from McPherson School of Practical Nursing. She was a CMA/CNA for over 35 years in McPherson at Northview Manor, The Cedars, and the Sterling House. She loved her work in nursing and was a dedicated employee. Her work ethic was incomparable, rarely missing a day.

Some of Janice’s enjoyments were watching Kansas Jayhawks basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball, going to the casino, and dog sitting. Her favorite music was country music, and she inspired her children to like it as well.

Janice was fortunate to live more than 80 years with no health issues. The last five years, however, have presented many challenges. She continued on with her optimism, no matter what, and a positive attitude. She remained hopeful always, even learning to walk again with two prosthetic legs well into her 80s.

She had been a resident in Assisted Living at Via Christi McLean in Wichita for the past five years. The family would like to express their appreciation and sincere gratitude for the care provided by the staff at Via Christi McLean. Janice always commented that she felt safe and at home in her apartment there. Her family was comforted in knowing she was in good hands.

She is survived by children, Jeff Kline (Marsha) of Derby, KS, Kim Kline of Wichita, KS, Brad Kline of McPherson, KS, Rod Kline (Shawn Berschauer) of Park City, KS, Pamela Huxell (Timm) of Ft. Collins, CO, and Ryan Waggoner (Amber) of Yukon, OK; life-long friend/friend of the family, Teri Sisson of Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren, Chad Kline (Courtney), Ashley Forsman (Chris), Taylor Huxell (Kyle), and Zachary Huxell; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Thomas.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 27, at McPherson Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Ascension Living Via Christi Village (McLean location) in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
