Janice (Toth) LaChance, 67 of Malta, NY passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024, surrounded by her treasured family. Jan is the beloved wife of Gary for 44 years, cherished mother of Justin, Jared, and Jillian, adored Gammy of Zach, Aiden, Noah, Sam, Jeremy, and Ivy, and deeply appreciated mother-in-law of Bari, Tiffeny, and Jeremy.
Janice was born and raised in East Greenbush, NY, and is a graduate of Columbia High School, Hudson Valley Community College, and Siena College. She worked for a number of years at State Farm Insurance and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, but her true profession was raising her three children and participating in their athletics - most notably as a Ballston Spa Cheerleading Coach.
Avid reader, true crime lover, unrivaled home redecorator, and craftswoman, Janice was a hobbyist and oh so very talented. She was a wonderful cook with an arsenal of delicious dishes and baked goods too many to name and was a warm and welcoming hostess.
Janice was always working on something thoughtful and beautiful for someone else. She was so generous - with her time and many talents and enjoyed nothing more than crafting her works of art for her friends and family. Janice spoke her mind and listened with her heart. She valued tradition and maintained so many. She knew the importance of a good sense of humor and loved a great laugh, but nothing was more important to Janice than family and friends and she made sure you knew it. She asked very little and gave so much.
For all of the things Janice gave, what transcends all else are the roots and wings which she bestowed upon her children. A philosophy in which she so strongly believed - roots to know where their home is, and wings to fly and put into practice what she taught them. These roots and wings will sustain her family well beyond her physical presence. Perhaps her greatest legacy - and the one of which she'd be most proud.
In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, Janice is survived by her twin sister Joyce (Eric) Tisaj, sisters Helene (Henry) Romer, Julie (George) Utter, and Diane (David) Smith, her many sisters and brothers in-law, and countless nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Her family were her friends and her friends were her family, especially her partner in crime, Susan.
She is predeceased by her parents, Anton and Anna (Bozik) Toth, in-laws Elmer and Rose (Kehn) LaChance, her brother Anton "Tony" Toth, and sister-in-law Sandra (LaChance) Buda.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, April 12th from 4pm to 7pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9:30am Saturday, April 13th at St. Mary's Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Saratoga Springs.
