William Oliver Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 23, 2025.
BEACON - William C. Oliver, 91, lived in Beacon, NY and passed away on August 21, 2025, at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. Born April 16, 1934 in Albany NY, William, affectionately known as Bill, graduated from Manasquan High School in NJ and later from Siena College.

Bill served in the Navy as an Aerographer's Mate at Lakewood Naval Air Station and in the north Atlantic, where he was tasked with taking weather observations. His military service was marked by dedication and a knack for mastering the complexities of meteorology essential for naval operations.

After graduating from Siena, Bill embarked on a pioneering career in computer programming at Central Hudson Gas and Electric. His early days in the burgeoning field of computing were filled with both challenges and cherished memories with colleagues.

Bill was known for his caring nature, often considering his friends as part of his extended family. He is survived by his sons Kevin and Gary Oliver, his brother Edwin Oliver, and nieces Karen Aumueller and Sandy Oliver.

Bill chose not to have a traditional funeral. Respecting his wishes, he was cremated, and his ashes will be discreetly spread at a secret location, his only advice about that was "Don't get caught."

In remembrance of Bill's final days, contributions can be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, which provided him with exceptional care. Donations can be made at [Hudson Valley Hospice Donation Page](https://www.hvhospice.org/donate-now/).
