Janice Lashure Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dunnichay Funeral Home - Elwood on Feb. 14, 2025.
Janice D. LaShure of Anderson, and formerly of Elwood, left this world on Friday, October 11, 2024; the beloved great-great-grandmother was 75. One of eleven children, Janice was born in Albany, Kentucky, on May 24, 1949, to Marion and Della (Brown) Buster. She spent many years employed as a supervisor at State Plating, as well as working as a housekeeper for Dickey Nursing Home. On October 8, 1994, she married Jimmy LaShure, with whom she shared 24 years until his passing in 2018.
The quintessential matriarch, Janice was the heart and soul of her large family. She was always ready for another cookout or party with her loved ones, and she particularly enjoyed fishing trips together. She was also a dedicated racing fan and often attended races at Anderson Speedway and Mt. Lawn Speedway. When she wasn't at the track, Janice could often be found tending to her flowers and houseplants. She was known for her many collections, listening to gospel music, and for her devotion to her pets. She will be sorely missed.
Janice is survived by her four children: daughter Virginia Chilton of Anderson, daughter Patricia Swindell of Anderson, son Michael Rogers of Anderson, and son Earl Rogers of Kasota, Minnesota. She is also survived by her mother, Della; five of her siblings; several nieces and nephews; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Along with her father and her husband, Janice was preceded in death by five of her siblings, and by her cherished companion, Fluffy the Cat.
Services for Janice are to be held at Dunnichay Funeral Home of Elwood, Indiana, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Calling hours will be from 11:00am until 1:00pm; a funeral ceremony officiated by Rev. Scott Blaylock will begin at 1:00pm. Immediately after the funeral, Janice will be laid to rest at Elwood Cemetery following a brief committal service.
