Janice Alaire Long of Lander passed on December 20, 2024, at her home with her loving family by her side.
The Graveside Service will be 10:00am, December 28, 2024, at Mount Hope Cemetery, 720 Mount Hope Drive, Lander, Wyoming 82520.
Janice was born on February 11, 1937 in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska to Clair & Juanita Best. After residing in Gering, NE the family moved several times during her childhood and in 1952 put down roots in Kinnear, WY. She attended Morton School where she graduated in 1955 and was awarded The Honor Scholarship from the University of Wyoming.
Janice decided to take a different path and instead chose to marry and raise a family. She married Leonard Long in 1957 and raised three children Monte, Marci, and Lisa. They moved to Hudson, WY in 1966 and in 1977 moved to Lander, WY which became their forever home.
Janice and Leonard were involved in several business endeavors including The Popo Agie Trailer Court, The Marmel Company, and The Lander Meat Market. After retiring they enjoyed spending time with family and friends square dancing, playing cards, and adventurous travels. In 2015 Janice and Leonard moved from their beautiful home of 32 years in Sinks Canyon into Lander.
Janice was preceded in death by her Parents Clair and Juanita Best and her Daughter In-law Pamela Long.
She is survived by her Husband Leonard Long, Son Monte Long of Lander, Daughters Marci (Dave) Heyborne of Lander, and Lisa (Michael) Duffy also of Lander. Grandchildren Mandy, Amber, Travis, Chad, Kolton, and Keenan, and numerous Great and Great-great grandchildren, Brother Monte Best of Lander, and three nieces.
