Janice Marie Losee, 81 died April 11th, 2025 at her home in Poughkeepsie. Born on February 26th, 1944, she was the daughter of the Late John Nicholas & Late Ida May June Nicholas (Newvine). Jan was predeceased by her loving husband, John Harvey Losee, and a son, Andrew John Losee. She is survived by a son, Jeremy Losee.
She is also survived by her brother, Roger Nicholas and his wife Linda, sister Gloria Wilson and her Husband Rick Wilson, Sister Susan Dittmann, sister Betty Schmidt and her partner Mark Nigro and many Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Allan Nicholas & John Patrick Nicholas.
Jan was an Elementary Teacher in the Hyde Park School District, as well as an English as a Second Language teacher & Coordinator for Adult Education at Dutchess County BOCES. She also volunteered her time to many great causes, serving as a Hospice Volunteer, Caregiver and Director of the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Food Pantry. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, where she sang in the Choir, served as an usher, trustee, and even was the secretary for many years.
The family would like to thank Jeannine Soons for her exceptional care of Jan over the past few years as well as a huge thank you to her sister Gloria for being her full time caregiver these past seven months.
Calling hours will be at the Doyle Funeral Home on Wednesday April 16th from 4 to 6 PM Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the St. John's Reformed Dutch Church Cemetery in Upper Read Hook.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed in her name to the Parkinson's Disease Support Group of the Mid Hudson Valley or Hudson Valley Hospice
