Janice L. McCabe, 85, of Colona passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Overlook Village in Moline.
Graveside services will be 10:30am Thursday, November 13, 2025 at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Anyone who wishes to attend may meet at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis at 10:00am to join the family in procession. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s’s or Toys for Tots.
Janice was born July 9, 1940, in Decorah, IA, the daughter of Donald and Irene Fox Reeder. She married Sylvester “Sam” McCabe on January 4, 1958 in Decorah, IA. He passed away June 8, 2016. Janice worked as a teller at Henry County Bank and an office manager at Ashland Oil. In her retirement she worked as a representative for Griggs Music, visiting schools and introducing children to various instruments. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Colona Grade School PTA, Colona Little League, and was a 10-year member of the Colona Lioness Club. Janice also served as an election judge and volunteered at the Colona Food Pantry. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, watching the Hallmark channel, and loved Christmas.
Survivors include her children Kevin (Diana) McCabe, Rick McCabe, and Kristen Crimmins; grandchildren James (Nicole) McCabe, Shelly Christensen, Mitch (Sara) McCabe, Brittany (Ben) Junis, and Danielle (Tony) Willaert; 14 great grandchildren and a cousin Gerald (Trudy) Fox.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jay McCabe, and an infant sister.
The family would like to thank Overlook Village, the community at The Mills, and Hospice Compassus for the care and compassion given to Janice and the entire family.
