Janice Murray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bradley Funeral Home & Crematory - Antigo on Jan. 30, 2026.
Janice Dawn Murray, 87, died peacefully on January 29, 2026 at Rosalia Gardens in Antigo, Wisconsin. She was born in Antigo on May 9, 1938 to Harold and Fern (Holmes) Anderson, graduating from high school in 1956. Janice was quiet and shy in school, and the friendships she made were dear and lifelong.

She married Daniel J. Murray, her high school sweetheart, on July 27, 1957. In 1960, they moved to Xenia, Ohio for better work opportunities for Dan. They lived there for 10 years before moving back to Antigo in November of 1970.

After high school, she attended nursing school in Wausau and worked many years for Langlade Memorial Hospital in various departments. Her longest role was as a pharmacy tech prior to her retirement in 2003. She was a stay at home mom for many years. She was a hard worker and gave her all to every role she held.

Janice was an excellent mother and role model for kindness and caring. Everyone who knew her loved and appreciated her gentleness and kind demeanor. She was quick to smile and make someone feel welcome. She was a good cook and great at hosting big meals for friends and family. Her potato salad was an award-winning favorite.

Janice is survived by four children, Michael (Shannon) Murray, Patricia (Harry) Clifford, Peter (Carla) Murray, and Matthew Murray; seven grandchildren, Brian (Tyra) Murray, Erich Bacher, Lindsay Bacher, Kari (Travis) Olsen, Althea Murray, Grace Murray, and Ethan Murray; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three siblings; James (Carol) Anderson, Connie (Ken) Schmiege, and Lynette Mundt; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Daniel; sister, Joan Riske; father and mother-in-law, Reverend Charles and Mary Murray; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

A special thank you to the staff at Rosalia Gardens and LeRoyer Hospice, who helped Janice navigate the past few years of life. Your kindness and help are appreciated. We are so glad you were there for our mother and our family.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 6 at Antigo United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. at the church until the time of service.
