Janice Nata Lee Parrino, known fondly to all as Janice, was a vibrant soul whose laughter and generous spirit filled the rooms of those lucky enough to know her. Born on October 1, 1947, in the heart of
New Orleans, Louisiana, Janice's story began in a city as colorful and spirited as she was. On September 6, 2025, at the age of 77, Janice's radiant journey came to a peaceful close in Slidell, Louisiana, surrounded by the love of her family.
Janice's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and an unwavering faith that guided her through her days. She was the beloved wife of Edward "Ed" Parrino, Sr., with whom she shared a love that was evident to all who witnessed them together. Her daughter, Sylvia Lee Mantia, was her pride and joy, along with her favorite son-in-law, Anthony; she embraced her daughters-in-law, Sherry Lee and Jennifer DeKanter, as her own. Janice's grandchildren-Robbie, Michael, Ashley, Natalee, Nicholas, Donavon, and Hannah-were the lights of her life, each holding a special place in her heart. Her stepson, Eddie, held a cherished spot in her extended family circle, as did her brothers, Reneldear "Blue" Nata, Jr., and Joseph "Joe" Nata, Sr. (Diane). Janice's sisters-in-law, Carol Marse (Michael) and Edie Williams (David), along with several adored nieces and nephews, will forever remember her warmth and kindness. Her fur baby, Bella, was a constant companion and source of joy.
Janice's parents, Reneldear "Red" F. Nata, Sr. and Antoinette Cuccia Nata, her first husband, Thomas "Joe" Joseph Lee, and her sons, Robert "Robbie" Lee, Sr., and Frank J. Lee, preceded her in death, as did her sister, Geraldine "Gerry" Jennings, and brothers, George Nata, Sr. and Anthony Nata, Sr., along with sisters-in-law, Jeanette Nata and Patricia "Pat" Nata. They were all greeted with open arms by Janice as she joined them in eternal rest.
An industrious and passionate woman, Janice began her career in pharmaceuticals with I.L. Lyons. After some time, she dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom, nurturing her family with love and care. Her creative spirit later led her to cosmetology school, where she became a licensed hairdresser, working at Flo's Beauty Salon in New Orleans. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly when she opened her own salon and later a Beauty Supply company called JCs with her friend, Cheryl. Janice eventually found her calling at Stewart Enterprises, specifically at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, where her compassion and empathy touched many lives.
Janice's interests were as varied as they were passionate. She found joy in the thrill of the casino, the meticulousness of sewing, the artistry of quilting, and the endless possibilities of crafts. Her hands were rarely still, as she was always creating something beautiful for her family and friends.
To describe Janice is to speak of someone funny, generous, and loving. Her humor was infectious, her generosity knew no bounds, and her love enveloped all who had the pleasure of her company. To know Janice was to love her, and she left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she met. She was a woman who spoke her mind, and you always knew where you stood with her. Her faith was the foundation upon which she built her life, and it remained steadfast until her final days.
Janice's legacy is one of laughter, kindness, and an unshakeable belief in the goodness of people. Her story does not end with her passing but continues in the lives of those she loved and who loved her in return. Her memory will be cherished, her presence missed, and her spirit celebrated for generations to come.
The family requests everyone in attendance to please wear colorful attire to celebrate Janice's vibrant spirit and love for life.
