Janice Lee Pyburn (Anderson), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, at the age of 82 years, surrounded by love.
Born on March 14, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Janice lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service. She was the cherished child of Elbert and Velva Anderson and grew up in northwest Oklahoma City.
Throughout Janice's life, she was known for being kind, understanding, compassionate, and a little shy – traits that were beautifully balanced by her teasing sense of humor, which she no doubt sharpened while being surrounded by all the testosterone that came with raising three boys. Whether it was her child, grandchild, niece or nephew, or a friend she had a unique way of making you feel seen, heard, and loved. Janice found strength and purpose in God's word, and it was evident in the way she treated others – with grace, humility, and kindness. Janice took great pride in her work at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where she spent many fulfilling years. She truly enjoyed being a part of that community, and it remained a meaningful and joyful part of her life.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of those who survive her: her husband of 67 years Ronnie Pyburn, son and daughter in law Lee and Terry Pyburn, daughter in law Traci Pyburn, granddaughter and grandson in law Paije and Ryan Fauser, grandson Russell Pyburn, granddaughter and grandson in law Rachel & Justin Looney, granddaughter Teresa Parish, grandson & granddaughter in law Donny & Shelly Ticer, and sister and brother in law Donna & Mark Dewey. Her seven great grandchildren Caitlin & Kaylie Looney, Jenna & Jolie Fauser, Eli Parish, and Max and Jack Emmons as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved sons Mike and Rick Pyburn, and her sister Yvonne Norfleet.
A homegoing celebration honoring Janice's life will be held on April 12, 2025, at 2:00pm at Heartland Freewill Baptist Church, with Dennis Cariker officiating.
"Well done, good and faithful servant enter into the joy of your Lord." – Mathew 25:23
