Janice M. Rudloff, 90, of Lax Lake, died unexpectedly on Monday, August 18, 2025.
Jan was born May 21, 1935 to George and Mae (Laverance) Lieske in Henderson, Minnesota, where she grew up on the family farm and attended school. After high school she attended Concordia College-St. Paul and worked for a short time as a teacher. She married Donald Trost and together they had five children. A tragic car accident in Norwood, MN took the lives of Don and their three youngest children, Kathleen, Douglas, and Jonathan. Jan later married Pastor Dean Rudloff and they moved to Lax Lake in 1974 and were blessed with two daughters. Together Jan and Dean operated the Lax Lake Resort, the Fun ‘N Fancy Gift Shop and NE MN Bible and Gift Center in Beaver Bay.
Jan was a long-time member and very active at Faith Lutheran Church in Silver Bay. She also enjoyed gardening and quilting.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mae; sister, Harriet Seefeldt; brother, Wilbur Lieske; and brothers-in-law, Ervin Seefeldt, Randall Rudloff, and Kenneth Bode.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Dean Rudloff; sons, Daniel (Evelyn) Trost and David (Glenys) Trost; daughters, Melodie Rudloff and Janelle Menze; grandchildren, Shaista (Zach) Griffin, Damian (Marissa) Trost, Adriana Trost, Garrett Menze, Jared Menze, Riley (Jack) Sausman, Emily Menze, Amanda (Angelo) Katasse, Jonathan (Amanda) Trost, and Tennessee Fossen; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Fisher, and Roselina Katasse and Maya, Kiefer, and Samantha Trost; a sister, Shirley Bode; in-laws, Chuck (Linda) Trost, Joel (Virginia) Rudloff, Susan Rudloff, Neva (David) Mackedanz, and Jacie Lieske; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the 1 PM funeral service on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Faith Lutheran Church in Silver Bay. Burial will be in Crystal Bay Cemetery, Finland.
