Janice L. Rus, 83, of Naperville, IL, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 2, 2025, with her family by her side. She had a long battle with lung cancer. Janice was born on February 18, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to Robert and Audrey (nee Stone) Blake.
Loving wife of 62 years to Richard R. Rus, who she married on June 29, 1963. Dear mother of Mark (Kristin) Rus and Kathy (Jim) Endrud. Adored grandmother of Blake, Brandon, Carter, Quinn and Cole. Janice also leaves behind many extended family members and close friends; including her sister, Judy Mahalko. She will be deeply missed.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Audrey Blake.
Janice grew up in Chicago and attended Morton East High School in Cicero, IL, class of 1960. In 1959 Janice met the love of her life, Richard in a class at school. They began a life together in Broadview, IL.
In her free time Janice loved to garden and needlepoint. Some of her other interests were archaeology and ancestry. Family was very important to her. She was a devoted employee of the Naperville Park District for over 27 years. Janice's family will always remember the way that she was kindhearted and always helped others in need.
In lieu of flowers or donations, we would ask that if anyone has pictures, stories or memories, to please post them to her Facebook page under Jan Rus. Anything you would like to share in Janice's memory would be appreciated.
The family is planning a private memorial service.
