Janice Stallings

Janice Carol Stallings, the second youngest child of the late Garfield Stallings Sr. and Igolia E. Stallings was born in Wilmington, Delaware on October 21,1948, and she peacefully departed this life on December 8, 2025, in Newark, Delaware. Janice was preceded in death by four brothers, Garfield Jr., Eugene, James (Jimmy), Herman, and two sisters, Joyce and Maxine Stallings. She was also preceded in death by a niece Vicky Walker and a nephew, James Michael Stallings.

Janice was a lifetime member of the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. She and her sisters, Vivian, Joyce, and Maxine, along with Mrs. Ann Burton were the first people baptized on June 15, 1963, in the newly formed Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. She later served as the church secretary for some time and remained a member until the last days of her life.

Janice received her primary and secondary education in the Wilmington Public School System, graduating from P.S. Dupont High School. She went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware and transformed

those acquired skills and knowledge into a successful and productive career at the Dupont Company as a valued administrative assistant of several decades.

Janice enjoyed family, the reunions, Christmas Eve parties, and the chance to be together. First, caring for her mother until her passing, and later spending time with her sisters, Janice was a person who family and friends could depend on. Janice shared

her time, wisdom, and gifts with many family members and countless charities including St. Jude’s and The Salvation Army among many. Doing what she could, her heart was ever open to requests large and small.

A host of nieces, nephews, many cousins along with extended family and friends celebrate her memory, but her oldest sister, Vivian McElderry cherishes her life and their bond as sisters and friends the most.
