Janice Tate Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by R.S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home - Walnut Grove on Feb. 20, 2026.
Janice Marie Tate, 70, of Memphis, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Born to the late Minerva and Harry Pinson, Jr., Janice was part of a large and lively family. She was a proud graduate of Treadwell High School. She later dedicated many years of service to the Federal Government as an employee of the Internal Revenue Service, from which she eventually retired. Her steady work ethic, quiet strength, and deep love for her children shaped every chapter of her life.

Janice was known for her spunky, fun, and sassy spirit -a personality that could light up a room and bring laughter to even the hardest days. She carried herself with confidence, warmth, and a touch of flair that made her unforgettable to all who knew her.

She was a devoted mother to her children, Toya M. Tate and Will T. Tate Jr., and a proud grandmother to Kayla J. Watkins and DeAndre' O. Tate. She is also preceded in death by two children who passed at birth, JanMichael Tate and Patty M. Tate, who now rest with her in eternal peace. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who cherished her presence and will forever hold her memory close.

Janice is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Hargrove, Betty Eckles, Annette Pinson, and Rose Ann Pinson, and by her brothers, Charles Pinson (Francis), Ronald Pinson (Cynthia), and Cornell Pinson (Rosemary). She is preceded in death by her sisters, Cozetta Collins and Glenda Baker, and her brother, Harry Pinson.

Janice's life was marked by love, resilience, and unwavering faith. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to share in her journey.

"Though her presence will be deeply missed, the love

she shared will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her."
