Frances Tate Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greer Funeral Home - Mangum on Feb. 22, 2026.
Frances Tate,92, a longtime resident of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away on February 20, 2026, in Altus, Oklahoma.

Frances was born on March 21, 1933, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Coy Huburt Miller and Ella Viola Smith Miller. She grew up in Collinsville, Oklahoma, and graduated from Collinsville High School in 1951.

On May 23, 1967, she married the love of her life, David Tate. In 1974, they made their home in Mangum, Oklahoma, where they raised their family together and built a life filled with love and devotion.

Frances spent many years caring for children in her home daycare before becoming the office manager for David O. Tate, CPA. She worked faithfully alongside her husband until her retirement in 2017.

Frances found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved playing games and bingo-especially when she was winning-scrapbooking, fishing, sewing, and baking her famous cinnamon rolls and kolaches. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, which was always her greatest treasure.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, David Tate; and her daughter, Fonda Houck.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jack Herron and wife Jennifer, Scott Tate and wife Becky, and Howard Tate and wife Toni; her daughters, Kim Warren and husband Ralph, and Shelly Davis and husband Cleatus; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

Frances will be remembered for her warmth, her hardworking spirit, and the deep love she had for her family and all who knew her.
