Janice Elaine Thomas, 77, of Mecca, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Warren on January 22, 1948, to Captain Dan Galbincea II and Helen Kachenko Galbincea.
On October 27, 1965, Janice married Tom Thomas, with whom she shared a long and loving marriage until his passing in October 2018.
After a dedicated 36-year career with Delphi, Janice retired in 2003 and began a new chapter with Tom, traveling the world and creating lasting memories together. She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #1012 in Cortland where she enjoyed playing slot machines and being with her family and friends.
Janice found joy in life's adventures-whether traveling, going to concerts, or spending an afternoon shopping. She loved sharing laughs with her dear friend Chris McElwain, and spending time with her family, who meant the world to her.
One of Janice's proudest accomplishments came when she and her all-women's fishing team won first place in the Pro-Am Walleye Tournament in Port Clinton-captained by her father, Dan Galbincea II, the creator of the well-known Erie Dearie lure.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Linda Finlaw; her beloved husband, Tom Thomas; and their son, Tommy Lee Thomas Jr.
She is survived by her sisters, Diane Trevena and Cathy (Larry) Brunstetter; her brother, Dan (Cindy) Galbincea III; brother-in-law, Kenny (Natalie) Thomas; and several nieces and nephews who loved her deeply, including Kelly Brunstetter, a niece with whom she shared a close and special bond.
Per Janice's wishes, a private family service was held, and she was laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Janice has cast her final line into Heaven's waters, reuniting with loved ones and forever fishing on her favorite lake.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
