Janice Irma Weeks, 89, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 26, 1936, in Jacksonville, Florida, Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Edward and Helen Skinner; her stepbrother, Johnny Skinner; and her beloved husband of 30 years, Vernon Weeks.
She is survived by her devoted children: Terri (Mike) Duggins of Burlington, KY; Thomas (Carla) Coward; and Tracy (Donald) Wilford, both of Macclenny, FL. Janice was a proud and cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy.
Janice was a woman of deep community involvement and service. She was a longtime member of several organizations, including the Riverside Chapter of the Eastern Star (25 years), the Daughters of the Nile (50 years), and Moose Chapter #1915 (over 30 years), where she held degrees as a Star Recorder and Past Senior Regent.
Professionally, Janice dedicated 30 years to the Florida Times-Union, where she served as manager of the credit union before retiring.
Janice had a bold and spicy personality that lit up every room she entered. Known for her quick wit, honest opinions, and infectious laughter, she left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was a straight shooter who loved big, laughed loud, and never shied away from speaking her mind.
She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her devotion to her pets, her love of flowers and the beach, and her enthusiastic support for Florida Gator football. She enjoyed watching Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and followed professional golfer Scottie Scheffler.
Janice Irma Weeks was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Janice’s life will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Taylor Church with Pastor Brian Willingham and Rev. Mark Woods officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 11:00 AM.
