Hazel Janice Whitmire, 82, Dawsonville Georgia surrounded by her family passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024. Born on August 3, 1941 to Egbert and Melva Tatum, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County and a member of Juno Baptist Church.
Janice retired from Dawson County Health Department after a career with the State of Georgia Department of Human Resources. She was also a very dedicated grandmother. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 57 years, Herbert Whitmire and sister Joyce Tatum Cox.
Surviving are her sons Tim (Carol) Whitmire, Dawsonville, and Tony (Kerri) Whitmire of Dahlonega, grandchildren Charley (Jed) Artman and Clayton Whitmire, sister Janelle Tatum Wilson and brother Dwight Tatum.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 13, at 12:30 p.m. at Sawnee View Gardens with Rev. Stephen Gerrells officiating.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
