Janie Linville Pierce, born January 12, 1939, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Walnut Ridge Assisted Living Community. She was born to her parents, James Hubbard Linville and Ollie Neal Linville. Janie was raised on a small tobacco farm in Walkertown, NC, where she learned to work hard. She married Charles Pierce in 1960 and had been married for 65 years at the time of her death.
In addition to her parents, Janie is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kelly Neal Pierce, who passed in 1967; and sister, Nancy Watkins Carmichael.
Janie worked for several years at Northwestern Bank/First Union in Walkertown where she was head teller. After a long career she retired from Piedmont Airlines/US Air in 2003.
Janie always took great pride in her appearance and home. She was a lifetime member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church. During her time Janie was active in the church choir and the Methodist Women’s Circle. She was always doing something for others. Janie continued to look after her older aunts and other elderly people in the community for as long as she was able. Although after her grandchildren were born, Heather and Justin were her main priority.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Charles Pierce; son, Keith Randall Pierce and wife, Darlene; granddaughter, Heather Pierce McCoy and husband, Ethan; grandson, Justin Pierce; and great-grandson, Waylon McCoy.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Walkertown, NC. Officiating the service is Rev. Jeff Coppley and Pastor Brian Taylor.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice of Dobson, NC or Morris Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery fund.
The family would like to thank all the staff of Walnut Ridge Assisted Living in Walnut Cove, NC for all of their care and love for Janie and her family.
