Selma “Janie” Corbett Thomas, age 84 of Jefferson City, TN, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. She was a longtime member and pianist at Oakland Community Church. She was an avid sports lover, the The Lady Vols biggest fan, and enjoyed taking her grandkids to the games. Janie was a devoted grandmother and never missed an opportunity to attend her grandkid’s games, no matter the distance. She was proud to be from Jefferson County and loved the people in her community. Janie retired after 40 years of service at the State of Tennessee Unemployment Office. Janie and her husband, Charles, built and owned Thomas Heating and Air for many years. Together, they enjoyed traveling with friends all over the United States and several various countries.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomas; son, John “JT” Thomas; brother, John Thomas; and parents, Frank and Lucille Corbett. She is survived by her grandchildren, Landon Thomas and Addison Thomas; daughter-in-law, Lindi Thomas. She was proud to be from a large family and is survived by many other family members whom she loved dearly. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, with the funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Darrell Chambers officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
