Janis Marilyn Arvin, 87, of
Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025. Born on April 4, 1938, in Evansville, Indiana, she was the cherished daughter of the late George and Mary (Pike) Killian.
Janis was a woman of deep faith and enduring devotion to her family and community. A charter member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church, she nurtured lifelong friendships and a steadfast spiritual life.
She was married to the love of her life, Donald "Don" H. Arvin, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. They celebrated their golden anniversary in July 2006. Don preceded her in death on February 23, 2007. Together, they embraced the joys of retirement by spending several months each year in Florida as snowbirds, enjoying time in the sunshine and each other's company.
Family was the heart of Janis's world. She especially cherished time with her grandchildren and created lasting memories on family vacations to Panama City Beach and Holiday World. Known for her warmth and hospitality, she loved hosting game nights and sharing laughter with loved ones.
Janis had a sharp mind and a competitive spirit, which shone through in her love of playing cards, especially Euchre. She was also an avid sports fan-an original season ticket holder for the Indianapolis Colts, a loyal supporter of Indiana University football, and a dedicated fan of the Indiana Pacers.
She is survived by her son, Donald "Don" (Amy) Arvin; her beloved grandchildren, Phillip, Kaleigh, and Jonathan; her sister, Sharon Burnes; and her brother, William "Bill" Killian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald "Don" H. Arvin; her grandson, Daniel; and four brothers: George, Jack, Donald, and Wayne Killian.
