Kermit E. Arvin, age 86, was born on June 27, 1939, in Harlan County, Kentucky, and passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Baptist Health in Corbin.
He was a remarkable man whose life was marked by courage, dedication, and a deep sense of duty. After graduating from Hall High School in 1957, Kermit joined the US Air Force, where he served for 23 years. After leaving the Air Force, he lived in various places before coming to Corbin. Kermit enjoyed playing golf until his health began to fail. Even then, he was always watching golf tournaments on TV or playing golf on his computer. Kermit accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior in 2024.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette Arvin; son Mark Arvin, his parents, Maggie Marie Arvin and Arlington Cecil Arvin; sisters, Rebecca Helton and Judy Fee; brother-in-law, Sidney A. Helton.
Kermit is survived by his sons, Michael Arvin of Plano, TX, and Patrick Arvin of Longview, TX; four brothers, David Arvin of Pineville, James Douglas Arvin (Pauline), Bill Arvin (Becky), and John M. Arvin (Barbara), all of Harlan; sister Janice Tolliver (Tony) of Corbin, and by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and by many friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 1:30 - 2:00 pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. His memorial service will follow at 2 pm with Rev. Ivan Siler officiating.
Those attending are invited to stay and continue visiting with his family during a time of food and fellowship following his service at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
