Janis Kay Norquist, 89, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away peacefully at her home June 29, 2025. She was born July 11, 1935, to Wilbur (Bud) and Cecyle McGonigle on a farm near Nickerson.
Kay lived in Reno County for the first half of her life. She married Bob Norquist in 1955. They had two sons- Bret and Bart. She was a teacher for over thirty years starting in Arlington, KS, before retiring from the Aurora Colorado District in 1998.
She is survived by: sons, Bret and wife Gay of Hayward, WI, and Bart of Plevna/Grand Junction; granddaughter, Kara Tonn; grandson, Ryan Norquist; grandchildren, Arianna Gonzales, Lakin Pruitt, Maverick and Noah Tonn all of Hutchinson.
Kay was preceded in death by: her parents; life partner, Gary Wafe; sisters, Janet Ritcha and Beth Boeka; and infant great-grandson, Cade Tonn.
Cremation has taken place. No service is planned.
Kay wished only to say you were all loved very much.
