Janis Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Zieren Funeral Home on Jan. 3, 2026.
Janis Williams, age 77 of Carlyle, passed away at her home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

Janis was born in Litchfield, Illinois on January 21, 1948, a daughter of the late Dearduff and Helen (Carter) Vallerius. She spent many years working hard, first with A.G. Edwards before retiring and then starting a second career with Hogan Transportation, where she worked as an over-the-road truck driver. Janis was a member of St. Theresa's Church in Marydale, and her faith was an important part of her life. She enjoyed the simple things most-watching the hummingbirds in her backyard, crafting and sewing, and spending time with her family and friends, who meant everything to her.

Janis is survived by her daughter, Tracie Zanchetti of Carlyle; her grandchildren, Keenan Murry, Kaylee Murry, Michael and Uryjah Zanchetti, Melody Holston, Tristen Holsten, and Benjamin Holsten; along with many other children and grandchildren she took under her wing over the years. Janis is also survived by her loving companion of 26 years, Jim Thomas of Carlyle. She is also survived by her sisters, Ione Henry of Texas, Gail (Tom) Forster of Idaho, and Terrie Illies of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dearduff and Helen Vallerius, and her brother, Duffy Joe Vallerius.

A memorial service celebrating Janis' life will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice and will be received through Zieren Funeral Home, 1111 Clinton Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
