Jarice Vera "Jerri" MacLeod

Jarice Vera MacLeod-Toon, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, in Naperville, Illinois.
Jarice was born on September 26, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, the eldest child of Joseph Gustov Lamos and Vera Mary (née Domko). From an early age, she carried a steady strength and independence that would shape her life and those around her.
Jarice grew up in Chicago and Elmwood Park. She graduated from Steinmetz High School in Chicago and attended the University of Illinois. She was a longtime resident of Downers Grove and Lisle, Illinois, where she built a life rooted in family, faith, and quiet determination. Jarice was widowed to her beloved husbands, James Ross MacLeod and Paul Edward Toon (daughter Nancy Toon) and was a devoted mother to her daughters, the late Bonnie Jean Elsner and Sandra Lynn MacLeod (Spouse Ronald Rosenwinkel)
She was a proud grandmother to Richard Elsner and Angela Christ (Spouse Alyssa Christ) and a cherished great-grandmother to Declan and Domico Kasperski. Family was her anchor, and she served as the matriarch with grace, resolve, and a deeply caring presence.
Jarice is also survived by her brothers, Allan Joseph Lamos (sister-in-law Carol Lamos) and Joseph Paul Lamos (sister-in-law Kathy Lamos), niece and nephews, Allan Lamos, Kenneth Lamos, Nathan Lamos, Seth Lamos and Stephanie Jenness. Jerri's loving companion, Sophie, was more than just her pet-she was a steady presence who brought comfort, routine, and unconditional love.
She was known for her entrepreneurial spirit and strong will. She also had a deep love of travel and cherished time spent with those she loved most. An avid gardener, she found joy and peace by tending to the earth. She was a devoted Lutheran, active in her church community throughout her life. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing tennis and later remained an enthusiastic golfer well into adulthood as a member of Naperville Country Club.
Jarice was loved by her longtime caregiver, Essinam Gnansah who was with Jarice to the very end.
Services will be held on January 17, 2026, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, located at 4501 Main Street, Downers Grove, Illinois 60515. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.
