Celebration of Life for Jarod Wayne Grice, age 34, of Gainesville, Texas, will be at 12:00 P.M. (noon), Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the First Baptist Church, 201 East Grand Avenue, Frederick, OK, 73542. Private family burial will be in Frederick Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.
Jarod Wayne Grice was born on October 24, 1989, the son of Jennifer and Stephen Grice. He and his wife Morgan celebrated 10 years of marriage this past September as they lived together in a beautiful old home that they were restoring in the historic downtown district of Gainesville, Texas-every room reflecting the same warmth, style, artistry and intentionality that characterized their very special way in the world. Jarod was a young man with an old soul.
Jarod was a proud Oklahoma native who received his Master's degree in Biblical Theology from Redeemer Seminary in Dallas where he was known among the faculty and student body as a sharp thinker who loved God and his word. He was a conversationalist who enjoyed deep theological discussion with close friends around the warmth and light of a campfire or a tight circle of comfortable chairs. Jarod was a beloved teacher and leader who was invested in the academic success and spiritual development of his students.
Jarod was perhaps most widely known as an immensely gifted singer, songwriter and musician. Whenever Jarod and Morgan would sing together, their harmonies would dance-magic filled the air and the love they have for each other electrified the space between them. And when their musical talents turned toward leading the church in worship, hearts and minds were ushered into the presence of God where they surrendered to both His truth and beauty. Jarod served as the director of music at Church of the Resurrection, Flower Mound, TX.
Jarod will be sorely missed, but he has entered the arms of the Lord Jesus, whom he loved so much. He no longer sees through a glass darkly-but now face to face (1 Corinthians 13:12).
He is survived by his wife, Morgan Grice; his parents, Jennifer and Stephen Grice; two sisters, Kalyn Grice and Carlos Payano; and Katie and Jeremy Eades; one nephew, Aksel Payano, and a host of other loved ones and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Shirley Edwards, Judy and Goob Gilbreth, Joe and Shelby Miller, and Vickey Butler.
