Jason Lee Cook, 46 years of age, of Vansant, VA, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Buchanan General Hospital. Born March 1, 1979, in Richlands, VA, he was the son of Barbara Ann Fletcher Hale and the late Lawrence Raymond Cook.

Jason was a 1997 graduate of Grundy High School where he played football and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed Clash of the Clans gaming, four wheeling and fishing. He was a loving father, grandfather, son and brother.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Jerry Ray Hodge.

Survivors include his mother Barbara Ann Fletcher Hale and stepfather Clayton Hale of Rowe, VA; wife Marcella Hope Looney Cook of Richlands, VA; daughter Mikala Leigh Cook of Radford, VA; sons Tristin Looney and companion Cheyanne Hutson of Richlands, VA, Jaysen Cael Cook of Richlands, VA, Draven Gage Cook of Richlands, VA, Tyler Austin Cook of Grundy, VA; sisters Cynthia Lynn Hodge of Salem, VA, Kathy Denise Blankenship of Vansant, VA; brother Gregory Lawrence Cook of Vansant, VA; grandchild Ashton Bailey Hutson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Jason Cook will be held Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home, Keen Mountain, VA with Pastor Tim Lester officiating. Burial will follow at Hess Cemetery on Fletchers Ridge Rd, Vansant, VA.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday after 6:00 p.m. with an evening service at 7:00 p.m.
