Jason had a deep love for life and found meaning in the little things that brought him happiness. He was passionate about Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and the lessons they offered, often sharing his insights with friends. His love for anime and music, ranging from EDM and hip-hop to alternative rock, reflected his vibrant and creative spirit.
Nature was Jason's sanctuary. Whether hiking along trails or enjoying peaceful moments on the beach, he felt most at home surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors. Bonfires with loved ones and helping others were among his favorite ways to connect with the world, always striving to provide peace and happiness to those around him.
Above all, Jason cherished his family and his role as a father to his beloved daughter, Artemis Rose. She was his greatest joy and source of pride. Jason's devotion to her was unparalleled, and his love will forever remain in her heart.
Jason was also deeply bonded with his German Shepherd, Atlas, who brought him lifelong comfort and companionship.
He is survived by his loving parents, Doris Santiago and Luis Cruz; his siblings, Joe, Jimmy, Awilda, Cristina Cruz, and Jennifer Hernandez; his best friend, Jasmine Kuhn; and his cherished daughter, Artemis Rose. Jason's life touched many, and his memory will live on through his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him.
Jason's legacy is one of kindness, passion, and an unwavering desire to bring happiness to others. He will be profoundly missed.
A visitation for Jason Cruz will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at George H. Hewell and Sons Funeral Home, located at 4140 University Blvd S, Jacksonville, FL 32216. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and celebrate his life.

I remember getting out of school and going to the library after school and we would always go hang out in the anime teens section. I am so sorry for your loss I hope he found peace

I will always remember Jason's kind soul and his love for animals. I'm blessed to have known such a wonderful spirit, and this world will not be the same without him. I remember coming over to his family's house during the holidays or for celebrations and we would all just be so fascinated with his corn snakes and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. He brought a light with him wherever he went. He was a jokester but would always make sure that you were okay. My condolences go out to his family during this time. Jason, I hope that you are finally at peace and watching over your daughter and your family.
