Sandra Elizabeth Krzykalski, age 74, of
Jacksonville, Florida went to her Heavenly Home on August 6, 2025, enveloped in the love and support of her lifelong partner, while vacationing at their cherished family cottage in Lake Linden, Michigan. Born on April 8, 1951, in Savannah, Georgia to her beloved mother Hazel Roberts and father William Roberts. Sandra was one of eight children, leaving behind Dora (Stan), Szczepanski, April Gorman, Paul Morris, and Ray Morris. Sandra was a caretaker to her siblings throughout her youth. Devoted to her family, Sandra took immense pride in her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother. From an early age, Sandra was an artistic soul with a gift for making the world around her more beautiful.
Sandra and Walter, married for over 50 years, were true soul mates. Their love, dedication, and unwavering support of one another remain an enduring inspiration to their family and friends. Together, they built a beautiful life, first in Savannah, Georgia, then in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before settling in
Jacksonville, Florida in 1978, which became their lifelong home. Walter and Sandra raised five children: Michael (Donna), Sharmon, Rebecca (Aaron), Heather (Will), and Walter (Jessica). Sandra excelled in creating a warm and welcoming home, preparing countless home cooked southern meals for her family. Sandra had a gift for hosting, always opening her doors to those who needed love and words of wisdom; she grew her gatherings into joyful family traditions. Christmas Eve was especially magical-- her home, elegantly decorated, an elaborate meal prepared with a visit from Sandra's dear friend, Santa Clause, who helped her pass out gifts to her grandchildren.
The lights of Sandra's life were her 13 grandchildren: Amanda (Schonathan), Meaghan (Vincent), Cierra, Gavin (Shayla), Elizabeth (Milan), Joshua (Katelyn), Abigail (Spencer), Savannah (Cameron), Zachary (Jordan), Olivia, Josiah, Walter, and Jacob; and her great-grandchildren: Grayson, Vincent, Ashlyn, Hunter, Walker, and Reed. Sandra often said that becoming a grandmother brought her a love unlike anything she could have imagined. She cherished her role as "Nanny," and spent every moment she could with her grandchildren-- babysitting, attending school events, swimming in her pool, and taking them on wild four-wheeler rides in Michigan.
Sandra was a talented chef, baker, quilter, and gardener, but her true passion was flowers. While still a young woman living in Savannah, she pursued her calling to be a floral designer by furthering her education at Savannah College of Art and Design and beginning her career at a local florist. Her talent blossomed as she continued her floristry in Milwaukee and Jacksonville. In 1993, Sandra fulfilled her dream of opening her own shop, Macklin Florist, which she proudly owned and operated for over 20 years until her retirement. The flower shop became a beloved fixture on the corner of Fouraker Road and Normandy. Through the flower shop, Sandra fulfilled her dream of working alongside her children, passing along her floral design talents to her daughters and granddaughters, and creating an environment where her family could thrive---allowing them to balance motherhood and meaningful work, supported by a nursery and beautiful playground for her grandchildren. Sandra's floral work touched lives during both joyful celebrations and heartbreaking farewells. Over the years, she volunteered her time at the Jewish Community Center and served faithfully at her church in Jacksonville, where she was a longtime member. Sandra was a woman of deep faith. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and was a representation of His gracious love, and was a true advocate for those in need. Rarely would another person leave her presence without a lesson learned.
Preceded in death by her parent(s) Mother Hazel Macklin Roberts and Father William Roberts, sibling(s) Bonnie Roberts, William Roberts, Mary Sikes, Colleen Anderson, and precious daughter, Sharmon Krzykalski.
Sandra's celebration of life will be on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 3 pm at Ferreira Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The immediate family will receive extended family and friends on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 2 pm.
