Jason Daniel Cutsinger

Jason Daniel Cutsinger was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 1, 1973 and passed away in Detroit, Michigan on April 15, 2021 from complications of COVID-19. He graduated from St. Francis de Sales college preparatory school where he was active in wrestling and had many friends. He studied Philosophy and World Religions at Eastern Michigan University, where a study abroad trip to Groningen, Netherlands led to the initial spark that ignited his passion for electronic music. He fostered that passion upon his return to the U.S., becoming a talented techno DJ, record store and label owner. Along with his partners Derrick and Fred Ortencio, Eric Ross, and Jeff Wallace, he founded Detor Productions and threw some of the most legendary underground techno parties in Detroit history. He was also involved in helping to elevate the famous Motor Lounge into a world-class nightclub.

Jason began his career in Information Technology at Compuware Corporation in Detroit and went on to work for several other IT shops over the years. He then branched off to start his own IT managed services company with his partner Stuart Feravich. His most recent endeavor was with ZeroFee Solutions merchant services.

Jason began dating Jackie Krall in 1999. The two were married in 2003 and forged an inseparable and enduring love. They cherished their time spent together and enjoyed many adventures, domestically and abroad.

Jason was highly intelligent and well known as a great conversationalist. He enjoyed traveling the world, riding his bike, cultivating his garden, and playing tennis with his friend Dan Digue. He was an avid cat lover who had pet felines throughout his life. Most of all, Jason loved searching for the perfect techno track for his next DJ mix. He prided himself on having curated the best music collection around.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, Larry Cutsinger; his birth mother, Christine Cutsinger; and his mother-in-law, Paula Krall. He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Cutsinger; mother, Judy (Ted) Wright; father-in-law, Rick (Patty) Krall; brothers-in-law, Charlie Krall, Eric Krall, and Michael (Mary) Krall; nieces, Myah, Fiona, Samantha, and Jalen; nephews, Alex, Chase, Mikey, and Dayton; uncle, Frank (Joyce) Nedveski; cousins, Nathan Nedveski and Laura (Greg) Esposito; as well as many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family and friends whose lives were touched by Jason are welcome to come to the visitation at Verheyden Funeral Home, 16300 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe, MI 48230 on Saturday May 1, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. In accordance with COVID-19 restrictions, only 25 guests will be able to gather indoors at any given time. Masks are required. Funeral home staff will rotate guests as they arrive to express condolences to the Cutsinger family.
