Jason Patrick Ebelheiser, born on July 29, 1985 in Kingston, NY and passed away on April 23, 2025, in Colorado. He was the beloved son of Kevin and Christine Ebelheiser.
Jason was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering sense of adventure. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jason is survived by his loving parents, Kevin and Christine, his sister Tara, his niece and nephew Taryn and TJ. Jason was the cherished grandson of Frank and Barbara Ebelheiser, and Enrico and Cathrine Albano. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles who adored him dearly, and a host of cousins who shared in his joyful spirit.
During his time at Kingston High School, he found his passion for Extreme Sports and videography. He had a feature spot on KHSTV where his show Extreme Sports with Jason Ebelheiser was an instant hit. Upon his graduation in 2003, he followed his passion for filming and was accepted into the cinematography program at Dutchess County Community College, where he perfected his craft, including becoming a certified drone pilot.
Upon completing his degree, Jason embarked on an adventure of a lifetime and moved across the country to the small mining town of Silverton, Colorado, where he was hired to be the videographer for Silverton Mountain, an extreme guided ski area. For nearly five years, he blended his love for film and extreme sports by providing patrons with their very own ski movies. He was then recruited by Matchstick Productions, where he was a featured cinematographer for their many world-renowned, high-octane adventure movies. With experience under his belt, he then was able to expand his adventurous nature by creating his own freelance film company, EbelVideo. With this new found freedom, he was able to pursue new and more thrilling adventures including becoming certified Skydiver, Basejumper and Wingsuit enthusiast. His experience in adventurous sports led to his collaboration with many well-known professional athletes and sports equipment companies. He was sought out and well liked for his joyful and generous nature.
Outside of his film work, Jason found joy in both winter and summer sports and photography, basically if it was in nature he was a full participant. He was a talented film editor and script writer, creating many movies, shorts and commercials that delighted his friends and family and reflected his adventurous and free spirit.
Those who knew Jason will remember him for infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, and his unwavering commitment to spread love and kindness to everyone he encountered. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
The Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Jason Patrick Ebelheiser will be held on May 18, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Smith Avenue Kingston, NY 12401
Although Jason's physical presence may no longer be in our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
