Obituary of Jason D. Kowalsky
Jason D. Kowalsky, 48, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 28. He was predeceased by his mother, Deborah (Kuszai) Kowalsky and his father, Richard Kowalsky, Jr. He leaves behind his brother, Richard Kowalsky III and his fiancée, Jennifer Mandel, of Colchester. Jay left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him. He embodied the spirit of generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Jay's compassion knew no bounds. Whether it was a neighbor who needed a hand or a friend in need, Jay could be counted on to offer support, guidance, and a (mostly) level-headed presence. He had a vast knowledge of home and auto repairs, much of which was passed down to him by his grandfather Julius and his father Richard. He could fix virtually anything, and he relished in using his skills to help his family and friends. He didn't just fix the problem, he had the patience to teach you how to fix the problem, too. His willingness to go the extra mile made him a cherished brother, son, nephew, cousin, co-worker, and friend.
In his professional life, Jay worked for Overhead Door for the past 20 years proving himself to be a valuable member of their team. He always spoke highly of the people he worked with and considered them family. He appreciated the friendship, camaraderie, and support they all provided throughout the years. Jay was also extremely proud of his service to the Glastonbury Volunteer Fire Department in companies 3 and 4 for more than 15 years. He deeply valued the many lifelong friendships he made with his fellow firefighters.
Jay's main hobby was cars. He had many vintage cars and trucks that he put his heart and soul into. He loved working in the pit crew for his brother at the Waterford Speedbowl during the nineties. Some of his fondest memories were of the several trips he took to Daytona and Las Vegas to attend NASCAR races with his dad and brother.
Lovingly known as a prankster and jokester, whenever you spent time with Jay, it was always spent laughing and trading zingers, his usually being better and funnier than yours. Jay loved hanging out and being around people and was unquestionably the life of the party.
Jay also had a love of animals that was always evident, especially as of late, helping out with the many farm animals at his brother, Rich, and his fiancée Jen's farm. He adored his faithful canine companions, Louie, Chewy, and most of all, Buddha. His departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy of compassion and selflessness will live on in the countless lives he touched. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the incredible person he was and strive to carry forward the spirit of generosity that defined his life.
Calling hours for Jay will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jay's honor be sent to Protectors of Animals, 144 Main St., Unit O, East Hartford, CT 06118. I can't believe it's been a year. I can not begin to tell you how many times I have gone to call or text you. How I miss the sound of some huge, roaring truck flying up my driveway completely unannounced lol. I miss our chats, laughs, last minute get togethers. You were one of the best friends I ever had Jay. Miss you always.

Richie,
We are so sad to hear the loss of Jason. There are so many memories that we shared with you, Jason, mom, dad, grandma and grandpa I don´t know where to begin. You are a big part of our family and hopefully we can spend some time together in the future to reminisce these memories. I asked Uncle Benny to welcome Jason into their heavenly family

Love,
Aunt Mary Jane, Cindy (George) DePaulo and Mike DePaulo

So many memories from the kids riding your minibike to hanging out on your boat or just hanging out. You were larger than life and always willing to help with anything anyone needed. Richard I'm so sorry for this loss Jay was definitely one of a kind. Rest easy my friend until we meet again.

The memories that I will always remember is how Jay always grew his hair long to donate to "Locks of Love"
He was so proud when he donated. Other memories I have of him is when we would all go boating. It was never a dull moment when Jay was around. We will always remember his kindness, big heart, and smile. "Your wings were ready but our hearts were not." Gone too soon. You will always have a piece of our hearts. We will miss you.
Love Dawn and Matt
