Jason L. Palmateer, 53 of Sullivan, MO passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Jason Leonard was born on May 6, 1971 to James L. and Linda Jo (Marsh) Palmateer in St. Louis, MO. He grew up and attended Spring Bluff Grade School and Sullivan High School graduating in 1990. Jason was a member of the high school choir which inspired his love of music, which continued throughout his life.
With a heart full of humor and a spirit for the great outdoors he so cherished, Jason's early years were marked by a mastery of farming tasks that seemed almost second nature to him. His knack for maneuvering farm equipment with finesse revealed a young man in perfect harmony with the land. Jason was employed by Peterson Oil from 1990 to 1994 which would impact his decision to later take up truck driving.
Jason's quest for growth led him to further his education at Southeast Missouri State University in the town of Cape Girardeau, from 1995 to 1997. His thirst for life's myriad roads culminated in a decision to become a truck driver, a venture he embarked on with vigor from 1997 until 2004, when his health obliged him to step away from the driver's seat.
Yet, it was Jason's infectious laughter and love for life that truly defined him. A fan of the gridiron and a devout follower of the Dallas Cowboys, his joy was also found in friendly competition, excelling at washers, horseshoes, and as a spirited contender in dart and pool leagues. Jason grew up in Grace United Methodist Church where he attended with his family.
Jason is survived by his parents, Jim and Jo Palmateer of Sullivan, MO; two siblings, Amy Blankenship and husband Jeff of Sullivan, MO and Matthew Palmateer and wife Christa of Owasso, OK; nieces and nephews, Lane Blankenship and significant other Montana Burke of Sullivan, MO, Dallas Blankenship of Sullivan, MO and Emmalin and Ramsey Palmateer of Owasso, OK; great niece Coraline Blankenship; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted 3:00 PM, Monday, October 21, 2024, at Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Susan Youmans officiating. Inurnment will follow at Cave Spring Cemetery.
