Reverend Jason Lee Russell was born on August 21st, 1983, in Spalding County, Georgia, to the late Larry James Russell and Martha Sims Russell.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. Demery Sims, Mrs. L.V. Sims, Mr. Johnny Roy Russell and Mrs. Allie Mae Russell, as well as one Aunt and several Uncles.
On Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025, while at Brightmoor Hospice, Jason L. Russell was called to his eternal home, healed from illness, pain, sorrow, and suffering.
Jason joined the Wolf Creek County Line Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend, Dr. Samuel Dickson. There, he faithfully attended Sunday School, Bible Study, and sang in the Junior Choir. He was educated in the Griffin-Spalding County School System and graduated with the Class of 2000.
He was married in 2008 to Janika Burden. They were blessed with one son. Later, Jason joined Towaliga County Line Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Georgia, where he received his calling into ministry. Rev. Russell preached his initial sermon in November 2010. After his ordination as a Minister of the Gospel, he was called to serve as the Pastor of Brown Chapel Baptist Church in Juliette, Geogia, where he served with dedication and love. Following that assignment, Jason enjoyed ministering the Lord by serving wherever he felt God leading him. He was passionate about witnessing for Christ and serving others in the Lord's Work.
Jason was also industrious and dedicated, having been employed previously by Southeastern Fright Line and most recently by AAA Cooper Trucking Company in Norcross, Georgia, where he worked until his limitations prevented him from doing so.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed working out at the gym. However, there was nothing in his life that compared to his spending quality time with his children and with his family.
Jason leaves to cherish his memory three beautiful children: MaKayla, Jordan and Callen Russell; his loving mother: Martha Russell Jackson; his auntie, whom he affectionately considered his "Other Mother": Alice Faye Parks; one that he loved dearly and adopted early in life as his "Dad", Rev. Ronald Keith (Sandy) Adams; brother: Andrew (Pam) Jackson; and three sisters: Shawanda Lumpkin, Carmen Jackson and Shawna Kaleena Jackson; a grandmother: Lucille Morris Jackson; aunties: Jeanette Paige, Josephine Holloman, Martha Russell, Mattie Taylor, Vivian Russell, Freda Russell, Mary Ann Maynor, Catherine (Lucius) Jones and Barbara (Solomon) Nunnally; uncles: Oscar Russell and Rudolph Russell; along with a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Although your work on earth is done, your life in heaven has just begun.
Your struggles here were hard and long, but they're over now; you're finally home.
Life wasn't easy, by choice or fate. A decision made, sometimes too late.
A fight to the finish, always strong. Rest easy, Child of God, you're finally home.
Final arrangements are posted below.
