Jason E. Sams, lovingly known as Jason to his friends and family, passed away on January 30, 2024, at his home in Sheffield Village, OH. Born on December 16, 1975, Jason's warmth and generous spirit touched all who knew him throughout his 48 years of life.
Jason was the baby of the family, being 1 of 7 children. He proudly attended Admiral King High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships and discovered his passion for working with his hands. This passion led him to a fulfilling career at Valu-Rooter, where he dedicated over a decade of service. As both a Technician and Supervisor, Jason was known for his exceptional work ethic, his ability to lead with kindness, and his unwavering commitment to his colleagues and the company.
Jason's enthusiasm for sports was contagious. He was a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Ohio State University teams. Watching games, drinking a Budweiser, discussing strategies, and celebrating victories were among the many ways Jason connected with friends and family.
Beyond his interests and career, Jason was a man who lived his life in the service of others. He had a heart of gold and would do anything to help those in need. His kindness was a beacon of light in the community, and his legacy of generosity will live on in the many lives he touched.
Jason's approach to life was one of optimism and joy. He found happiness in playing the lottery, always dreaming big and enjoying the thrill of possibility. His positive outlook was infectious, and it inspired many to see the brighter side of life.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Diane J. Sams; and sister, JoAnn Larew.
Jason is survived by his wife, Erica Sams; father, Donald Sams; son, Eli; siblings, Teresa (Donald) Swanson, Ida Sams-Osorio, Melinda (Marcus) Hartley, Donald "Donnie" (Cindy) Sams, and Sherry (Tom) Schnell; childhood friend, Terry Jackson; and many loving family and friends.
As we say goodbye to Jason, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life full of love, laughter, and selfless acts of kindness. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Jason's memory will be carried forward in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the natural beauty he so cherished.
Jason E. Sams may have left us in body, but his spirit will continue to guide and uplift us, just as it always has. Rest in peace, dear friend. Your legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those you've left behind.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Lorain, (440) 244-1961. Online condolences may be sent to the family using www.rsgfuneralhome.com.
