Jay L. Algier, 76, of Honey Brook, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Chester County Hospital.
Born in Lancaster, PA, Jay was the son of the late Elwyn and Elizabeth (Manley) Algier. He was the beloved husband of Michele (Feudale) Algier. The couple shared 54 years of marriage.
Jay proudly served in the United States Army, serving in the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam, and later served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for 18 years, serving in the 111th Infantry Regiment. He was a Pennsylvania State Constable for many years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church (Coatesville), Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge 297 (Coatesville), American Legion Post 945 and a lifetime member of VFW Post 1564 (Phoenixville). Jay enjoyed playing Pinochle, visiting pawn shops, collecting rings, coins, and Dickens Villages.
In addition to his wife, Jay is survived by his children: Steven Algier (LeeAnn) of Wichita, KS, and Leah Ederer (Michael) of Prairie du Sac, WI; grandchildren: Kyle Algier, Ethan Ederer, Kayla Ederer, and Logan Ederer; sister: Leray Hardy (Theodore); Sister-in-law: Betty Algier.
In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his brother: Elwyn Algier Jr.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 9:45-10:45 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church: 2835 Manor Rd., Coatesville, PA 19320. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM at the church. Interment will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Jay's name may be made to The Seeing Eye.
