Jay David Bartlebaugh, at the age of seventy-four, was called home to rest on June 2, 2025, at his residence in Petersburg. Born on September 30, 1950, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Isaiah Bartlebaugh and Charlotte Gindlesberger.
Jay proudly earned his Master's degree in barbering and operated his own shop in Colonial Heights for many years. He was also well-known as a DJ and a true jack of all trades, always eager to lend a helping hand. Among his favorite pastimes were singing karaoke and visiting the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting for good deals at Goodwill and had a special fondness for his 1948 Chevy. Jay's love for his dogs—Chopper, Spud, Stubby, and Chubby—was evident to all who knew him.
He is survived by his children: Shawn(Theresa), Jay, Wesley (Angie), Sandra (Elmore), Andrew (Wendy), Joel
Jay is also survived by his sisters, Charlotte Johnson and Jerri Sizemore. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Robert Booth, Christopher Ecerode, and Lorraine Simms. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Alexa, Cameron, Kyle, Kira, Maddie, Brayden, Brooklyn, and Alyssa. He was cherished by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, Virginia 23832. Family will receive friends on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home.
