Jay Bavaro

Clinton - John Jay Bavaro, 63, died peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, surrounded by the people and the dog he loved.
Jay was the son of the late Vito and Florence (Daly) Bavaro. He grew up in Milford and graduated from Milford High School in 1979. He enjoyed a 38-year career as a facilities coordinator for Data General, EMC, Dell, and most recently Jones Lang LaSalle, where his quiet competence and humor made him a favorite colleague.
Jay and his truly beloved wife of 38 years, Karen M. (Gallagher), built a marriage grounded in deep friendship, humor, quiet loyalty, and a shared love of parenting.
Being a good father was Jay's most serious life's work and his greatest joy. He was the kind of dad who could find adventure anywhere, whether it was in a long drive, a good conversation, or a game on TV. With his oldest son, Jack, he once drove the length of the Maine coast in search of lighthouses. With Joe, he shared the discipline and camaraderie of countless road races. He and Ryan enjoyed an enduring love of the Celtics and the easy shorthand of two true fans.
He was an insatiable reader, curious about everything, always eager to learn something new and talk about it with the people he loved. All who knew him will remember his exceptional wit, his kindness, and the quiet decency that defined his life.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his siblings Maryanne O'Hara & Nick, Michael Bavaro & Shammara, Kate O'Connor & Phil, and Daniel Bavaro & Carol; his sisters- and brothers-in-law Lynne McCormack & Francis, Kathleen Chasse & Daniel, Ellen O'Toole & Timothy, Julie Gallagher, and Michael O'Malley; his many beloved nieces and nephews, extended family, friends, and his loyal pup, Gracie.
He was predeceased by his brother William Bavaro, by his niece Caitlin O'Hara, and by his sister-in-law Patricia O'Malley.
Calling hours will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water Street, Clinton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union Street, Clinton, followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster.
