Jay Burgess was born on February 23, 1951, in Idaho, and spent much of his life in Colorado. He passed away at the age of 74 in Lakewood, Colorado.
A proud and hardworking pipe fitter by trade, Jay was also known for his deep love of the outdoors and the Colorado mountains. He was an avid fisherman-so much so that friends affectionately nicknamed him "The Fish God." Many of his happiest days were spent casting a line in quiet mountain streams or telling tales by the water's edge.
Music was the rhythm of Jay's life. He had a special place in his heart for Telluride, Colorado, where he'd retreat to a cabin, guitar in hand, and spend days playing and picking tunes. Some of his best stories were born in those moments-tales of laughter, friendship, and the simple joy of song.
Jay leaves behind his daughter Andrea, son in law Sven and cherished granddaughter Annistyn. He is also survived by numerous friends and extended family members who will miss his stories, his music, and his generous spirit.
Jay lived life on his own terms-passionately, and always with a song in his heart. His memory will live on in the mountains he loved, the music he played, and the hearts of those who knew him.
