Jason "Jay" Sean Canady passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024, at the age of 51 in Hollister, Missouri. Born on March 19, 1972, in Lakeland, Florida, Jay embodied a very humble spirit of generosity and love that touched those who truly knew him.
Jay is survived by his son, Sean Canady of Lakeland, his sister Mary Hafar and her husband Nick of Reeds Spring, his nephews Logan Taylor, Lance Hafar, and Landon Hafar, as well as a host of cherished extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Duke and grandparents, Lloyd & Mary Francis Woods.
Before relocating to Reeds Spring 14 years ago to be closer to his family, Jay owned his own business in his hometown of Lakeland, servicing saltwater fish tanks for various clients. After moving to Reeds Spring, he initially joined Petco as a sales associate and later pursued a career in security. At the time of his passing, Jay was a respected Security Supervisor at Hilton Grand Vacations, formerly Diamond Resorts, and had been with the company for 12 years.
Proud of his Native American descent, Jay was deeply rooted in his heritage. His interests included spending quality time with family and close friends.
Jay's humble, giving spirit, loving nature, and witty/ dark sense of humor were the cornerstones of his personality, leaving a legacy that will be remembered and cherished.
No services are planned at this time, in lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Ozarks Food Harvest, P. O. Box 5746, Springfield, MO 65801-5746 / ozarksfoodharvest.org or a local food bank of the donor's choice.

I've known Jay since I was 9, and he's been my best friend and father figure since. I have few photos of him but the ones I do are precious to me. Father daughter dances and prom photos are pretty much it but I have many more memories. Lunches and wandering around the landing. He got me a build a bear a few years ago, I named it Draco, and it has been a major comfort to have the little peice of him with me. I loved him as my dad and to me he was, even if he only said bonus dad.
